The Turkish organization Sangal has decided to part ways with Dawid “SaMey” Stańczak, marking the end of the Polish sniper’s seven-month tenure with the team. This roster change comes shortly after the start of the tournament break.

Sangal’s decision follows their disappointing performance at the Europe RMR B for the Perfect World Shanghai Major. Entering as dark horse contenders, the team fell short of expectations, suffering early exits with lopsided losses to MOUZ, Cloud9, and ECLOT. Their inability to recover mentally from back-to-back best-of-one defeats left them unable to replicate the strong form they had displayed in the lead-up to the RMR. Before this, Sangal had claimed three online CCT titles and competed in events like ESL Pro League S20 and RES Regional Champions.

In a post-elimination interview, Linus “LNZ” Holtäng reflected on the team’s struggles, noting that their poor performance might indicate a lack of certain elements they need to address moving forward. He emphasized the need for reflection and improvement heading into 2025.

SaMey, who joined Sangal from ex-Anonymo in May, maintained an average rating of 1.02 across 192 maps while with the team. However, his stats took a significant hit during LAN events, dropping to 0.88 over 27 maps, and further declined against top-20 opponents, where he averaged just 0.81 across 13 maps.

Rumors suggest that SaMey’s departure might not be the only roster change for Sangal during the off-season. Speculation surrounds the future of Samet “jottAAA” Köklü, the Turkish rifler currently on loan from Eternal Fire. Eternal Fire, having also exited early from the RMR, may consider changes, and there are whispers within the Turkish scene of jottAAA attracting interest from G2.

The current Sangal roster stands as follows:

  • Linus “LNZ” Holtäng (Sweden)
  • Simon “yxngstxr” Boije (Sweden)
  • Yasin “xfl0ud” Koç (Turkey)
  • Samet “jottAAA” Köklü (Turkey, on loan)
  • Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson (Sweden, coach).
