The Brazilian esports organization RED Canids has announced significant roster changes following their failure to qualify for the Perfect World Shanghai Major. David “dav1deuS” Tapia Maldonado and Gabriel “nython” Lino have been moved to the bench, marking the end of their year-long tenure with the team.
The decision comes after a lackluster performance at the Americas RMR last week. Despite securing victories against local teams Case and Legacy, RED Canids ultimately fell short after a decisive loss to Imperial in the fifth round, extinguishing their hopes of making it to the Major.
Nython’s performance during the RMR continued to underwhelm, with the player ending the tournament with a 0.74 rating across nine maps. His struggles had been evident for some time, particularly since moving away from the AWP role following the addition of Henrique “HEN1” Teles in August. This adjustment dropped his stats even further, landing at a 0.78 rating since the roster change.
The organization has yet to name replacements for the two benched players, leaving their future lineup uncertain. RED Canids now retain Marcelo “coldzera” David, Henrique “HEN1” Teles, and Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo, along with coach Raynan “farao” Carvalho, while nython, dav1deuS, and Wesley “hardzao” Lopes remain on the inactive roster.
These roster changes signify a pivotal moment for RED Canids as they seek to rebuild and improve their competitive standing following this setback.
