Abios, a leading provider of esports data solutions, has revealed key insights into the esports betting landscape for Q3 2024 in collaboration with the gambling newsletter Sharpr. The ‘Esports Betting Monitor’ emphasizes Counter-Strike’s significant role in the betting industry, accounting for 58% of the total esports betting handle across Kambi’s extensive network of operators.

Kambi, Abios’ parent company, supports over 40 operators, including major brands such as Kindred, LeoVegas, and Svenska Spel, which recently partnered with Abios for specific offerings. The report, covering data from July 1 to September 30, 2024, shows League of Legends ranking second in esports betting handles, followed by Dota 2 and VALORANT.

In addition, the report underlines the continued importance of live (in-play) betting, which made up 53% of the total betting handle in Q3 2024. Although slightly lower than Q2’s 60%, in-play betting remains a key segment, particularly in Dota 2, where 63% of the game’s betting handle came from live bets.

Furthermore, the report highlights the most wagered esports events in Q3 2024, with a mix of Counter-Strike, Dota 2, and League of Legends tournaments. The ESL Pro League took the top spot, accounting for 14% of the esports betting handle, followed by BLAST Premier (13%) and Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024 (9%). Dota 2’s most bet-on events were The International and Riyadh Masters, each holding 3% of the handle, while League of Legends’ Chinese LPL garnered 7%.

In 2024, Abios has solidified its presence in the esports industry by securing various partnerships. The company has strengthened its ties with Bayes Esports and GRID, two notable esports data companies, and appointed a new Head of Odds Operations in June.
