Valve has introduced a new update for Counter-Strike 2, addressing key aspects of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, refining maps, and improving game mechanics.

For the Shanghai Major, the update corrects MIBR’s player stickers, replacing Lucas “Lucaozy” Neves with Breno “brnz4n” Poletto. Additionally, a UI glitch in the Major Pick’Em hub has been fixed, ensuring team logos stay in place and predictions for the Elimination Stage can be made seamlessly.
Gameplay adjustments include improved ragdoll predictions, where incorrect animations are reverted without server confirmation, delivering smoother and more reliable gameplay.

Several map updates were implemented. On Train, collision accuracy for multiple models has been enhanced. The Overpass received significant visibility improvements, including replacing the Heaven railing with a solid wall for more apparent sight lines. Updates to Edin and Palais from the Community Workshop introduced likely visual and structural enhancements for a better gameplay experience.

Other fixes addressed issues like the ‘Boost Player Contrast’ feature, which previously allowed unintended visibility through thin surfaces. A new setting, r_allow_low_gpu_memory_mode, was added to optimize Workshop Tools for low-memory GPUs, and Hammer saw multiple stability and functionality improvements for map creators.

The Pick’Em Challenge was also updated for the Shanghai Major’s Elimination Stage, allowing players to make predictions for the next competition phase.

This update reflects Valve’s dedication to improving Counter-Strike 2 in response to player feedback. It ensures the Shanghai Major delivers a smooth and competitive esports experience while enhancing overall player satisfaction.
