The group stage of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 kicked off with a series of exciting BO3 matchups. During the opening round, paiN, Wildcard, and Eternal Fire made their debuts, all achieving a 1-0 record in the Swiss format. Here’s a detailed recap of each match.
paiN vs Astralis
The match began with Inferno, where Astralis managed to take control and win with a 13-7 scoreline. The second map, Mirage, was a map where paiN has been showing strong performances, and as expected, they dominated the map, securing a 13-6 victory. The final map, Nuke, was a tight contest, but paiN managed to clinch the win after a series of crucial rounds, finishing with a 13-11 score.
MIBR vs Wildcard
The first map was Train, a surprising pick from Wildcard since they had previously been banning this map. Wildcard managed a 7-5 lead in the first half but lost the second half in a mirrored fashion. However, they pushed through in the second overtime to win 19-15. On the second map, Nuke, Wildcard dominated with a strong first half, leading 10-2, and easily finished the map 13-4 in the second half.
Eternal Fire vs Imperial Valkyries
Eternal Fire came into the match as heavy favorites and quickly showed their dominance, taking the first half 9-3 and securing the rest of the map in the second half, winning 13-5. The second map, Nuke, was just as one-sided, with Eternal Fire finishing it off 13-4 without breaking a sweat.
