MIBR has become the third Brazilian team to advance to the Elimination Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, dominating FlyQuest in a decisive two-map series.

Led by André “drop” Abreu, MIBR joins compatriots FURIA and paiN in the top 16, marking only the second time three Brazilian teams have reached this stage at a Valve-sponsored event, the first being the Copenhagen Major. The team also enters the Elimination Stage as one of the highest-performing squads from the Opening Stage, boasting a collective 1.18 rating. Felipe “insani” Yuji stood out individually, ranking just behind four The MongolZ players with an impressive 1.45 rating across eight maps.

MIBR’s path to qualification included a recovery from the 1-2 pool, where they first eliminated local favorites Rare Atom before dismantling FlyQuest. For the Australians, it was a disappointing end to a promising start, as their 2-0 record was followed by three straight losses that denied them a spot in the next round.

The decider series saw MIBR take control early and never let up. On their map pick of Nuke, the Brazilians jumped to a 5-0 lead, held firm during a streak of back-and-forth rounds, and finished the half at 8-4. A clean CT-side pistol round set the tone for the remainder of the map, which MIBR closed out convincingly at 13-4.

Inferno followed a similar script, with MIBR dominating the map. Aside from a brief three-round streak by FlyQuest, the Brazilians controlled the first half and carried an 8-4 lead into the switch. MIBR continued their dominance by winning the T-side pistol round and allowing FlyQuest only a single defensive round before sealing the match 13-5, securing their place in the next stage of the Major.
