2 captured their third title of the year with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Spirit in the BLAST Premier World Final, smoothly securing wins on Mirage (13-7), Anubis (13-5), and Dust2 (13-7).
G2 entered the final as the clear favorite, having already bested Spirit earlier in the tournament. Since the last break, they have extended their head-to-head record against the Russian team to an impressive 8-1 in maps.
The series was one-sided from start to finish, with G2 completely overpowering Spirit and maintaining control throughout. After a disappointing performance at IEM Rio, Snax and his team needed a strong showing, and their flawless run in the BLAST World Final provided just that.
Much pre-match attention focused on the anticipated face-off between Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, a rivalry that favors the seasoned Bosnian. In this final, donk broke even against NiKo, ending at 10-9 in head-to-head duels. However, his slight advantage in their encounters wasn’t enough to shift the balance on the rest of the server.
Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov was unstoppable, showcasing his trademark aggressive AWP play. Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač came alive on the last map, delivering strong performances after a slow start to the event. Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa’s precision significantly impacted NiKo and Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski, though quieter, still delivered when it counted.
Spirit, in contrast, struggled. Their performance on T side was lacking, unable to penetrate G2’s hard-hitting defense, and apart from donk, they had little individual impact. Their semi-final finish was still a positive, especially after limited deep runs since the player break, but G2’s dominant showing highlighted that Spirit has room for improvement if they hope to regain their impressive early-year form.
