Elisa, a well-known Finnish tournament organizer, has announced the launch of an international tier-two esports competition exclusively for Nordic teams. The event, set to take place in Vaasa, a city on Finland’s west coast, will feature a $100,000 prize pool and provide local teams with an opportunity to compete on a bigger stage.
The Elisa Nordic Championship is scheduled to run from May 20 to May 24, beginning with a studio phase featuring eight teams before transitioning to the Vaasan Sähkö Arena, where the top four squads will battle it out in front of a live audience for the championship title.
Teams will be able to earn their place in the tournament through regional qualifiers, which will be held in partnership with Fragbite in Sweden, Dust2.dk in Denmark, and MistGames in Norway. Meanwhile, in Finland, spots will be determined through seasons 8 and 9 of the Elisa Open, ensuring a structured qualification process across the region.
Discussing the tournament’s significance, Mika Lepistö, Director of New Business Development & Partnerships at Elisa, emphasized the importance of creating more high-level opportunities for Nordic teams. He noted that the Elisa Nordic Championship 2025 represents a significant leap forward for the region’s esports scene, offering teams a pathway to international competition and the chance to secure valuable ranking points.
Fans eager to witness the action live will be able to purchase tickets starting March 1 through Liveto. The event is open to spectators aged 16 and older, while those 13 and above may attend if accompanied by a guardian. With a structured format and a substantial prize pool, the championship is set to become an exciting addition to the Nordic esports calendar.
