The European team Copenhagen Wolves has decided to withdraw from Fragadelphia 18, a $25,000 event in Kansas City, to focus on their ESEA Advanced Season 51 campaign. Despite being one of the early registrants for the tournament, the squad opted to prioritize their European commitments as the year ended.
Jared Habib, the CEO of Copenhagen Wolves, explained that the team’s decision was driven by their position in the Lower Bracket final of ESEA Advanced. After defeating teams like 1win, FAVBET, and Spirit Academy, they were knocked into the Lower Bracket by Ukrainian team L&G in the Upper Bracket Finals.
With a victory in the Lower Bracket final, Copenhagen Wolves can secure direct qualification for ESL Challenger League (ECL) Season 49 EU. Their consistent performance, thanks to their fourth-place finish in Season 50, has already locked them into relegation for the division, keeping them within reach of ECL qualification.
The ESL Challenger League is significant for European teams, much like it is for their North American counterparts. It not only offers extra VRS points but also provides a direct pathway to the ESL Pro League for the division’s top-performing teams.
Given the stakes, Copenhagen Wolves have made the complex yet strategic choice to forgo a weekend of LAN action in North America to focus on securing their place in the ECL for 2025. This move underscores the team’s commitment to advancing in the European competitive scene.
