Complexity defeated M80 with a 2-0 series win on Anubis (13-8) and Vertigo (13-9), earning a spot in the Opening Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
Led by Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, the team secured their Major qualification after four matches, winning against BESTIA and BOSS and losing only once in the 2-0 round to MIBR.
In a post-match interview, Michael “Grim” Wince expressed optimism about their potential performance at the Major, noting that their practice results had been promising. He mentioned that team members felt they were playing some of their best Counter-Strike of the year and he shared that sentiment. Although they faced some difficulties during the RMR, the relief of qualifying would allow them to fully concentrate on improving further.
The 2-1 matchup began on Anubis, with Complexity gaining an early advantage by taking six rounds on the CT side. EliGE and Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli both contributed significantly with five multi-kill rounds each and surpassed 20 kills, leading the team to a 13-8 win while attacking.
Vertigo, which could serve as Complexity’s strategic advantage in vetoes, showed inconsistency after their earlier defeat by MIBR. Although they managed to secure the map against M80, there were areas needing attention. The team, directed by Johnny “JT” Theodosiou, failed to capitalize on four of nine initial kills in the first half and trailed 5-7 at halftime.
Ultimately, Complexity managed to take control of the intense and back-and-forth match, characterized by unpredictable rounds, including four glock kills during full gun rounds. They closed out the game on the CT side with a 13-9 scoreline, confirming their progression to the Major.
M80’s journey is not over yet; despite their loss, they have only accumulated two defeats and will participate in the final day’s decider matches for one last chance to reach the Major.
