Valve has rolled out a new update for Counter-Strike 2, targeting several gameplay bugs and minor map improvements. Among the highlights is a fix for the peculiar “poltergeist CT model” glitch, which caused disconnected players’ models to remain eerily on the map.
To address disconnect-related issues further, Valve has updated the mechanics so that player models of disconnected users immediately “suicide” upon detection rather than lingering on the server for up to 10 seconds. This change aims to streamline gameplay and reduce confusion during matches.
The update also fixes a lag compensation issue affecting servers with the mp_teammates_are_enemies setting, particularly in community deathmatch modes. Additionally, adjustments were made to the damage prediction feature to resolve inaccuracies caused by mid-spray view angle changes.
Gameplay Fixes at a Glance:
- Disconnected players’ models no longer linger; they disappear instantly.
- Lag compensation now functions correctly on servers with team-based enemy settings.
- Damage prediction has been corrected for more reliable hit registration.
Map Adjustments and Texture Fixes
The update also brings a series of refinements to popular maps, addressing texture inconsistencies, clipping issues, and gameplay bugs:
- Train: Improved ladder movement, fixed gaps, and resolved z-fighting issues.
- Inferno: Patched up various holes and adjusted clipping and textures.
- Nuke: Removed a stuck spot for players.
- Office: Fixed a bug causing Terrorist players to occasionally spawn mid-air.
Valve has also fine-tuned the game’s UI, improving the consistency of rank displays and player profile layouts.
These updates, while minor, demonstrate Valve’s commitment to refining the Counter-Strike 2 experience. With fixes spanning gameplay mechanics and visual bugs, players can look forward to smoother matches and more polished maps.
