The Australians make their return to Counter-Strike’s premier event after missing out on the Copenhagen Major.
FlyQuest set to debut at the Major with their logo on display for the first time. They claimed the final Asia-Pacific qualification spot for the Perfect World Shanghai Major by defeating Lynn Vision 2-0 in the lower bracket final of the Asia RMR. FlyQuest will join The MongolZ and Rare Atom as regional representatives in the Opening Stage of the competition.
The matchup carried a sense of redemption for Christopher “dexter” Nong’s squad, who had failed to qualify for the Copenhagen Major following a loss to Lynn Vision in the Asia RMR consolidation final nine months earlier while competing as Grayhound.
This time, FlyQuest proved dominant, overcoming the Chinese team in two straight maps and completing their lower bracket run at the Shanghai RMR.
Although Zhe “Westmelon” Niu’s team rebounded on Vertigo and even took a brief lead in the second half, FlyQuest strengthened its defense and convincingly secured the match.
dexter spoke with Pala “Pala” Gilroy Sen post-match, stating, “The pressure was probably the highest we’ve ever felt. Being in the lower bracket and fighting to climb back while hearing people doubt you is intense. But staying mentally focused and pushing through feels incredible.”
