Metizport secured a convincing victory against Ninjas in Pyjamas in the grand final of the Svenska Cupen 2024, sweeping the series with a 3-0 result. This win marks the Norwegian organization’s first offline championship and a milestone for Swedish player Linus “nilo” Bergman, who ended the series with an impressive 6.9 rating.

This triumph is particularly significant for nilo, as well as his teammates Adam “adamb” Ångström and Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora. Both adamb and nilo are former members of the NIP academy, and Plopski had been removed from the main Ninjas in Pyjamas lineup at the start of 2023.

The loss was a tough setback for Ninjas in Pajamas, especially with their upcoming trip to China for the Perfect World Shanghai Major Europe B RMR. Their challenges were compounded by the absence of Max “maxster” Jansson, with Jacob “jocab” Nerheden from Young Ninjas stepping in. However, jocab is still in the process of finding his footing within the main team.

Ninjas in Pyjamas showed struggles throughout all maps. Starting with Vertigo, they managed only two rounds on the T-side. Even though they secured a pistol round in the second half, Metizport took control and closed the map with a 13-4 victory. Adamb led this map with an 8.0 rating, supported by nilo and Plopski.

Mirage saw NIP putting up more resistance, bolstered by the efforts of Fredrik “REZ” Sterner and jocab, who nearly engineered a comeback from a 4-11 deficit. Nevertheless, Metizport regained momentum in overtime to claim the map.

On Ancient, NIP started strong and led on their attacking side. However, an ace from adamb during a semi-buy turned the tide in Metizport’s favor. The team held their ground through the second half, with nilo playing a crucial role in securing the final win and completing the series sweep.

This defeat raises concerns about Ninjas in Pyjamas’ readiness for the upcoming RMR tournament in Shanghai, leaving uncertainty about their ability to recover and enhance their performance before the critical matches.
