Vitality’s run in the BLAST Premier World Final faced a rocky start, with stand-in player Audric “JACKZ” Jug unable to prevent Spirit from claiming a 2-0 victory in the series.
This win secures Spirit’s spot in the tournament playoffs, where they will now take on G2 for a place in the semi-finals. Spirit will aim to reverse their past results, as they’ve struggled against G2, standing at 1-6 in map wins across three series since July.
Although Spirit won 2-0, the series was far from straightforward. JACKZ initially performed well, leading Vitality to a 7-5 start on the T side of Anubis. However, Spirit responded strongly, dominating the second half of Anubis and all of Mirage, where the match remained competitive with both Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut leading their respective teams.
The outcome was ultimately determined in the final round, where Vitality lost a 5v3 advantage by allowing Spirit access to the B site, closing out the match, and preventing overtime.
