Nexus has officially welcomed back Laurențiu “lauNX” Țârlea, who returns to the Romanian squad after a previous stint with the team during 2021 and 2022. The organization announced the move on Monday, confirming the 19-year-old’s addition to the roster following his brief time with Revenant. His return, however, is complicated by limitations related to the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), meaning he will not yet appear in active tournament play.

Roberto “ADRON” Paun, who was temporarily holding lauNX’s spot, will remain involved with Nexus as a stand-in for the time being. Despite being replaced on the roster, ADRON is still required to participate in upcoming events due to a VRS discrepancy stemming from earlier in the year. Nexus explained that the situation arose due to an outdated team core being listed within the VRS, which has caused eligibility issues for their active lineup.

The confusion began when Cosmin “ragga” Teodorescu missed the team’s final match of 2024. As a result, Gabriel-Cosmin “zewts” Letcanu, who filled in at the time, was incorrectly registered in the system as part of the core trio. Following this, Nexus made a roster move in early January, replacing Daniel-Cătălin “Ciocardau” Purice with Alexandru “s0und” Ștefan. Unfortunately, since the CCT event they participated in during that month lost its ranked status, the organization was unable to update their official lineup in the VRS system until February.

This left Nexus in a difficult position: the only core players recognized by the VRS for January and February were ADRON, Cătălin-Ionuț “BTN” Stănescu, and Adrian “XELLOW” Guță. Without one of those three in the lineup, the team would be disqualified from participating in events for which they received invites based on those outdated rankings.

Looking ahead, the VRS standings published on March 3 are the first to correctly list both ragga and s0und, aligning with Nexus’ intended lineup. This update clears the way for lauNX to officially compete with the team at the upcoming PGL Astana Europe closed qualifier, which will be the first event where the refreshed roster can play under proper eligibility.

The current Nexus squad consists of BTN, XELLOW, ragga, s0und, and now lauNX, with ADRON continuing to serve as a substitute until the VRS issues are fully resolved. This lineup, once fully eligible, marks a fresh chapter for Nexus as they aim to regain momentum on the European stage.
