The second day of ESL Pro League Season 21 Stage 2 has wrapped up, with MOUZ emerging victorious over Falcons in a rematch of the PGL Cluj-Napoca grand final, while Liquid took down FURIA to avoid slipping to a dangerous 0-2 record.

Alongside these matches, both Vitality and Spirit delivered dominant performances, sweeping their respective opponents, 3DMAX and SAW, in one-sided series to close out the day’s action.

MOUZ Gain the Upper Hand Against Falcons

In their first encounter of the year at PGL Cluj-Napoca, Falcons managed to edge out MOUZ, but the latter quickly settled the score with a commanding 3-1 victory in the Romanian event’s grand final. Their paths crossed again in just the second round of ESL Pro League, where MOUZ once more asserted dominance, securing another win over the international squad.

One of the key factors in MOUZ’s success came on Train, a map they had only recently added to their pool, having debuted it against FURIA in the previous round. “It’s a strong map for us,” Dorian “xertioN” Berman explained in a post-match interview with Anastasija “Heccu” Tolmačeva. “I’m excited for teams to challenge us on it.”

He also highlighted the role of teammate syrcone and veteran presence Xyp9x, who contributed significantly to refining their approach on Train. “Most of us haven’t played this map professionally before, but syrcone has a great understanding of it, and Xyp9x has been fantastic in helping us adapt,” he added.

Liquid Secure Crucial VRS Points

After experiencing an inconsistent start to their 2025 campaign and opting to skip PGL Cluj-Napoca, Liquid are now looking to capitalize on every opportunity to earn valuable VRS points, with the BLAST.tv Austin Major invite deadline on April 7 fast approaching.

A victory against a similarly ranked FURIA roster is a step in the right direction, but if Liquid hope to secure direct entry into later stages of the Major, they will need to continue building on this momentum in the coming EPL matches.

Speaking after the match, Guy “NertZ” Iluz emphasized the significance of these ranking points. “The VRS is obviously a big deal for the Major,” he said. “Right now, there are still a lot of uncertainties, but for us, the focus remains on each tournament as it comes.”

Vitality and Spirit Cruise Past Underdog Opponents

While Natus Vincere struggled through an early loss to SAW and barely edged past TYLOO, Vitality and Spirit had a much smoother day, brushing aside their challengers with dominant showings.

Vitality faced little resistance from the French squad 3DMAX, securing a swift 2-0 victory in a series filled with playful banter and taunting. Meanwhile, Spirit extended their win streak on Train, making it three consecutive triumphs on the map as they comfortably dispatched SAW in another straight-map win.

With these results, both MOUZ and Liquid remain in the running for playoff contention, while Spirit and Vitality continue proving their strength as top contenders in ESL Pro League Season 21.
