Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke has officially parted ways with Ninjas in Pyjamas, marking the end of a tenure that began in early 2023. The Danish rifler, who had spent over a year on the bench, now enters free agency, looking for a fresh start after an extended period without competitive action.
During his time as an active player for NIP, k0nfig participated in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, where his team came within a single win of reaching the playoffs. However, his run with the organization came to an abrupt halt in February 2024, when NIP failed to qualify for the PGL Major Copenhagen through the Europe RMR A event. The team’s early elimination meant they missed out on a Major appearance for the first time since 2018, leading to significant roster changes.
Following his benching, the 27-year-old was linked to TSM, with reports indicating that he was close to joining forces with Benjamin “blameF” Bremer under the leadership of coach Allan “Rejin” Petersen. However, the potential move fell apart when blameF opted to sign with fnatic instead, leaving k0nfig without a new home in the competitive scene.
Despite his time away from official matches, k0nfig remains a highly experienced and skilled rifler, having competed at the highest level of Counter-Strike for several years. With his free agency now confirmed, the focus shifts to whether he will find a new team in time to return to top-tier competition or if he will need to work his way back through lower-tier events to rebuild momentum.
