Cloud9 has officially parted ways with Timofey “interz” Yakushin, marking the end of an era as the organization now finds itself without a single remaining starting player from its previous lineup. The departure of interz finalizes the complete dismantling of the roster that competed under the Cloud9 banner at the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
The move comes as no surprise given the team’s struggles throughout the latter half of 2024. After failing to make a meaningful impact in qualifiers for major LAN tournaments, Cloud9’s lineup has gradually been dismantled, with each player moving on to new opportunities. The organization originally picked up interz as part of the former Gambit Esports roster in early 2022. However, after a year of inconsistent performances, he was benched in 2023 as Cloud9 sought to reshape its lineup.
His return in mid-2024 was part of a broader rebuilding effort, which also saw the addition of Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko and Kaisar “ICY” Faiznurov. Despite the fresh start, this iteration of the roster failed to gain momentum, managing only a brief appearance at the Perfect World Shanghai Major, where they were eliminated in the Opening Stage after securing just one map win.
With Cloud9’s early exit from the Major, the roster quickly unraveled. ICY moved to Virtus.pro, HeavyGod was picked up by G2, and Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov and Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov found new homes at BetBoom. With interz now departing, Cloud9 is left without any active players, signaling a major shift for the organization as they look to the future.
It remains to be seen how Cloud9 will approach its next roster-building phase, but with the organization’s rich history and competitive ambitions, a fresh lineup could be on the horizon as they aim to re-establish themselves at the top level.
