The North American organization has broadened its roster by welcoming a Danish player to the squad.
NRG has officially signed Alexander “br0” Bro, marking the end of his time as a free agent since September 2024. His departure from Astralis was surrounded by controversy when he was benched to make way for Casper “cadiaN” Møller just before the BLAST Fall Final.
Although br0 briefly returned to Astralis’ active lineup as a substitute when Nicolai “device” Reedtz was sidelined due to injury ahead of the PGL Shanghai Major, he did not secure a permanent spot after the tournament and entered the free-agent market heading into the 2025 season.
His arrival in NRG makes him the first European player to join the roster, which is currently led by Nick “nitr0” Cannella. The 22-year-old takes over the spot previously held by Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, whose departure from the team has been confirmed.
Brehze was an integral part of NRG’s roster from 2017 to 2019, helping them reach the semifinals of the StarLadder Major Berlin before transferring to Evil Geniuses. His return to NRG in November 2023 did not yield the results the organization had hoped for, as the team struggled to make an impact. They finished at the bottom of the PGL Copenhagen Major RMR and faced an even earlier exit in the Shanghai Major cycle, failing to advance past the closed qualifier.
With this roster adjustment, NRG looks to turn things around in the new season, now featuring a mix of North American and European talent.
