Cloud9’s ICY Moves to Virtus.pro: A Misstep for VP?

The official announcement of ICY joining Virtus.pro from Cloud9 confirms weeks of speculation about major changes within the Cloud9 roster. This transfer represents Virtus.pro’s second significant acquisition during the off-season, following the addition of FL4MUS from GamerLegion, which also brought about a leadership change.

With ICY’s transfer, reports of Cloud9’s roster breaking apart have been substantiated. HeavyGod is rumored to be moving to G2 to fill NiKo’s spot, while Boombl4 and Ax1Le are reportedly negotiating contracts with BetBoom. Perfecto and interz remain on the roster for now, but, likely, they will also find opportunities to join other teams soon.

Virtus.pro’s decision to sign ICY marks their second major roster shift in preparation for the new season. FL4MUS joined earlier, replacing n0rb3r7, who departed the team despite strong performances and being considered one of the most reliable players in his role. Players such as degster and zorte reportedly turned down the opportunity to join, and similar rejections were encountered while pursuing other players. This raises concerns about whether Virtus.pro’s recent moves will elevate the team or fall short of expectations.
