Lucas “lux” Meneghini is reportedly “not part of paiN’s plans for 2025,” as stated by Dust2.com.br. The publication suggests David “dav1deuS” Tapia Maldonado, currently benched by RED Canids, as a potential replacement for the team.
Although lux was paiN’s standout player during online matches in 2024, where he maintained a 1.17 rating, his performance on LAN dipped to 1.03. Against more vigorous opponents, his typically aggressive style proved less effective.
Under Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt’s leadership, paiN had a successful 2024, coming close to reaching the playoffs at IEM Cologne and competing in both Majors. However, the team is exploring roster changes to strengthen their bid for the top spot in Brazilian Counter-Strike.
paiN has multiple avenues for filling the vacancy left by lux. They could promote young talent João “snow“ Vinicius, who previously played in lux’s aggressive role for Case, or opt for a proven opener like dav1deuS.
Currently positioned 14th in the Valve Global Standings, paiN remains eligible for invitations to prestigious events such as BLAST Bounty and IEM Katowice at the start of 2025.
