FalleN finally breaks a seven-year drought against tabseN’s teams, marking a historic moment in his career.
FURIA earned their place in the Elimination Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major with a hard-fought 2-1 win against BIG. After a dismal start on Nuke, their map pick, the Brazilians nearly squandered a massive lead on Mirage before delivering a dominant performance on Dust2 to complete the reverse sweep.
This victory is a personal milestone for Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo. It ends a ten-match losing streak against Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz. FalleN’s last victory against tabseN dates back to 2016, when the German player was part of NRG.
Following their earlier win against Wildcard in the 1-1 pool, FalleN admitted that FURIA’s gameplay in Shanghai had not been compelling. That sentiment also carried into this series, with the team suffering a lopsided defeat on the opening map, Nuke.
FURIA rejuvenated on Mirage, quickly building a commanding 10-2 lead on the CT side. FalleN turned back the clock with an impressive 4K early in the half, showcasing his legendary skill. The second half, however, was far from smooth. Jon “JDC” de Castro kept BIG in the game with two consecutive plant denials, nearly forcing overtime, but FURIA closed it out just in time.
Dust2 saw a similar start, with FURIA dominating on the T side to establish a 9-3 advantage. Yuri “yuurih” Santos sealed the deal with a brilliant 4K on the A site during the pistol round, paving the way for a quick 4-0 finish and ensuring no comeback for BIG.
With this victory, FURIA advances confidently to the next stage, bringing personal and team milestones into the spotlight.
