The second CS2 Major of 2025 is reportedly set to take place in Budapest, Hungary, marking a return to Central Europe for one of the most prestigious esports events. According to Alejandro “anonimotum” Gomis from Sheep Esports, StarLadder has chosen the Hungarian capital as the location for the December Major, bringing the spotlight to a country home to players like torzsi and DeadFox.

While specifics remain sparse, the event’s schedule has already been announced. The Major, which will feature 32 teams, is set to run from December 1 to December 14, as previously detailed by HLTV. If confirmed, Budapest will host its first Major, joining a list of other Central European cities like Berlin, Kraków, Cologne, Cluj-Napoca, and Katowice that have had the honor in the past.

StarLadder’s return to hosting a Central European Major follows their 2019 event in Berlin. This time, Budapest will also host the StarLadder StarSeries Season 20 in September, potentially serving as a precursor to the December Major. Having two high-profile tournaments in the same city within months would be an exciting development for Hungary, a nation that has only hosted the V4 Future Sports Festival as a notable esports event.

Suppose Budapest is confirmed as the Major’s destination. In that case, it will solidify the city’s growing status as a Central European esports hub, with fans eager to see how StarLadder delivers on this ambitious plan.
